Disco 4 2011 battery drain when doors open?? |
|
Hi all. I’ve recently bought a 2011 disco 4.
I can leave it parked up for a week with all doors locked etc and then come back and it’ll start straight away.
However if I leave the doors open for five minutes it then won’t start due to a battery low problem. Give it a jump from another vehicle and it turns straight over.
Is this likely to be a battery problem or a drain somewhere??
Any help gratefully received!!

Switch off all the interior lights and see if that makes a difference. Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Hi mate. Interestingly enough they won’t switch off. I didn’t know if that’s a design feature or not? But the middle button that you’d expect to turn the lights from “turn on with doors opening” to “permanently off” doesn’t actually do anything.
But when the doors are closed the lights go off in the time you’d expect them to.

The centre button doesn’t permanently turn them off, just that once.
You need to do the parasitic current draw test, I had a drain last month of 2 AMPS, I found quite quickly it was my surround camera module and I had a feeling it may have been because the car had a wobble a month or so before hand and blew the cam fuse.
There must be more to this than the batt going flat in 5 minutes with doors open as the car won’t sleep until about 20 minutes has elapsed from door closing.
