Disco 3 tdv6 auto gearbox removal

Hi. I am biting the bullet and changing my gearbox is there any big problem areas that i need to watch for when doing this the sonar box has Gearbox,transfer box and torque converter included. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

Are you doing on the floor or on a ramp?
The box is very heavy it will need to be lifted out and back in on a transmission jack.

It can be done ok.

You need to get the car as high as possible and use a small transmission jack.
It would be very difficult to lift into postion as it weighs 121 kilos and you have to have it linned up perfectly for it to be slotted on, one false move and your bend something and get terrible transmission vibration.

Hi. Pete.k and aja. I am putting the car on axle stands and using a couple or from my jack to lift and lower the gearbox, transmittion box complete. Once i lift the vehicle i am going to make a board to put the box on and lower it and replace the box.
