My disco 3
Well I thought I should have a new thread to document my disco 3 adventure.
It’s taken a few weeks since the crank snapped to get the old one out and replacement engine in but it’s done and running I’ve only been amble to do a few hours each day and sometimes I’ve had to wait for parts to arrive.
Since putting the engine in I managed to get back to the air compressor I needed to do when I got back from holiday. I had the pressure rising too slowly code.
Ordered a Hitachi kit and went to do it to find someone had fitted an AMK.
So AMK kit arrived today. Oh boy was it due!

The exhaust piston was actually stuck and needed a tug to remove. It’s all cleaned up pretty well and with new seals/lubricated now it works well

Well the replacement engine lasted less than 100 miles. Cracked head I believe.
So another engine bought and fitted. Been using it for a week nearly now. TBH, it really isn’t that bad changing the engine without taking the body off. Call me a sucker for punishment but I’ve worked on worse! Took 3 days to get it out. Take all the goodies off the one (clutch, flywheel, water pump, cambelt kit, oil pump), take all the bits off the new one and fit my goodies and drop it in!
Now to get back to the improvements and making it mine
