Disco 3 exterior colour coding

Hi guys I've just bought a 56 plate HSE and love it. Cheap due to a compressor exhaust fault but easily fixable.

Anyway I think it looks a tad bland with all the grey etc and the boring grill so am asking what sort of fairly reasonable mods can be done. I'd love a D4 front but I'm not spending over a grand on it.

I want the arches etc done but is does the D4 bumpers etc fit easily or is it a complete front end only?

I run a garage and bodyshop.

Also do you loose much comfort with bigger wheels as the standard are horrible.

Welcome.

The grille is easy to remove and there are a number of suppliers for D4, RRS, chrome (!), etc. style ones that fit an unmodified D3.

You can do a “facelift” from D3 to D4 (or even D4.5) but a lot of kit will need to be swapped out as you implied.

The existing arches can be removed and painted, there are people who have done that. Similarly, the front/rear bumpers can be removed and painted in one color rather than the combo you now have of black and something else. You can’t (I think) take D4 arches because they’re of different length and require replacement of more parts on the sides.. I think the same applies for D3 MY09 arches (these are the same color as the car instead of black).

What wheels do you have? Usually going to larger rims means less comfort. I’ve got 19” on both winter and summer and am happy. Could also be that your suspension bushes are tired/shot or the previous owner put poly bushes in. Or did you mean that the standard ones look horrible...? Whistle

Search is your friend. Thumbs Up

The grille is a 2 minute mod ,Disco 4 bumpers are a straight swap but you’d need the lights and wings as the lights are a different shape
