Disco 3 Drivers Door Trim cannot be fixed - but battery sort |
|
I have been doing a few jobs on my 2005 Disco 3. I have used two sets of plastic attachment fastenings (new & from main LR dealer), but still cannot keep the lower drivers door black Trim strip on for more than a couple of weeks. I have tried keeping the fastening halves complete, but still makes no difference.
Is it the Trim gone too far out of shape ?
Any ideas before I resort to using araldite between the fastening halves ? Thanks.
After an extra cold weather charge to 12.95 V, the engine now fires up (drops if not turned over every day in cold). Looks like 800 A is no good for winter. Is 950 A -CCA still the one to go for as I want to replace it ? [/b]

My door trim does the same thing. It’s very frustrating, especially when the dog knocks it off...
Pete K - any links to these fixed black clips?

Good Evening, All,
Thanks for the information.
Will look for some quotes tomorrow and see what the Main Dealers and / or Specialists say about the Trim fixings.
Might still try some heavy aralditing as well.

The Exide battery at Tayna is not in stock, they are not expecting any in until next year.
They offer a Tudor battery replacement, same spec, a company bought by exide.
That's what I've gone for last week.
No issues, great service by Tayna.

Morning All,
LR or specialist still offer 950 A for £ 340 fitted.
Found another LR specialist offering 900 A BUT 100 Ah (which on checking the spec is the SAME as the 1000A Exide Tech spec !). This specialist is supplying and fitting for £ 135 . Also D3 apparently has no radio code (an hour of my life spent searching that I will not get back !).
With the clips, all mine on the strip were the two-piece yeloow / white bits of rubbish. However noted that all holes are the same size. So ordered 20 pcs of the all in one black clips and will fit these only, should be onto a winner then. Otherwise will let the forum know. Just in case ordered 50 pcs of the 2 piece rubbish ones. Also picked up a second row fold-down lever for only £ 15.20 new.
Turtle Covers supplied a lovely Camo set of seat covers for about £ 104 (I think) in case anyone is interested. I have a double seat on the second row as well.
All the best for chrimbo and New Year.

Well you are only meant to fit the black ones on the ends (4 per door) but I'm sure a few more won't hurt. As long as you don't want to get the strip off again!
Getting the old ones out the door is a real pain. So start with the ends that need to be black

Good Evening, Pete,
Thanks for that.
I put a total of 8 black ones on, strategically spread out. The 6 White / Yellow ones off ebay seem much tighter stuck together. Fingers crossed. The Trim bar snapped on much more crisply than before. For 20 Black and 50 White / Yellow I only paid around £ 9.
New Battery fitted, so I will leave it a couple of days and see if it starts normally again.
New Clutch, both Front Wheel Bearings, new Handbrake CPU Controller, all oil changes and a thorough waxoyling done now - not bad for 7 months ownership !
Next job is checking the dreaded Lube Oil Pump / Tensioner arrangement, to see if this has the upgrade or the original type ( 104 K miles at present) and suspect original is still in place.
All the best for Chrimbo and the New Year.

Checking the oil pump should have been done first
Andi.
