Do you have access to the 2nd key? If so try that one.

As posted on here a couple of days ago, remove the small panel behind the park brake and under there is a plastic toggle, lift, pull whatever way you can and it'll come out of P

Only reason I know this is, because Bodsy posted it only a couple of days ago.

Failing that LRA should be your first call to help get it on the truck

It ent nowt stupid like a bpp sensor or brakelight problem is it? Cos the box needs to know you have foot on brake when selecting out of park. If no signal it will stay in park Live everyday as though it were your last!

Sounds like the micro switch within the ignition key switch has shorted (or otherwise failed) - it is this that informs the car that a key is in the ignition.

As you've discovered, a 'key in' signal will prevent the operation of the fob buttons ...

Had a similar problem when the electrics totally died. AA Recovery man said there was a release behind the park brake switch although he could not get it released. That said, there's also a manual release for the park brake there and I think he was pulling on the wrong one as the park brake made a dreadful din when I next used it (although seems to have resolved itself). An independent recovery truck was then called who popped in a new battery to get some charge in the system and then used the selector to get it out of park as usual.

To get the car auto gear lever to move without a battery connected. - Remove the small plastic cover behind the park brake (handbrake) electrical switch.
Then pull the wire cable, that has a loop in it. It takes a good pull upwards to release the gear lever, which can then be moved to any position (neutral will let the car roll).

I’m guess he’s Moved it off his drive from 8 years ago.

In any case you described park brake off procedure.
