The current value of a high road tax D3 barely exceeds what it will break for in parts so I’m a little loathed to spend big money on upgrading comfort options and sat nag isn’t a big deal for us. I drove trucks for many years and I can navigate my way around pretty well plus there’s always google maps.
It’s around 16-20 grand for a 2014 ad blue drinking D4 with the lower road fund licence.
I just wondered if the extra 10-14 grand Over the value of our D3 was worth the cost to replace our 2006 D3 HSE. It’s still a comfy place to do four hundred miles in a weekend and we still require 4 wd or AWD As we need the ability to cover Somerset back roads in any weather to get home on a Sunday evening for work.
Keep the D3, especially the way things are at the minute, I predict lots of used cars for sale early next year, the only downer on prices dropping is the early D3s will be worth squat, but people will still be able to afford a cheap D3 and run it, cannot say the same about a later d4.
Used cars are selling like hot cakes at the minute, allegedly some 2nd hand dealers are buying stock from joe public private sale.
2014 was stop/start, adblue came in late 2015 65 plate and all 16 plate ownards.

Why would sales of used cars be on the up currently? I thought everyone was skint? Are people sending their lease deal cars back and buying a banger? Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

I guess many people are not needing their lease car now for commuting, and why get in even more debt if your job is at risk...
Im not sure if a D3 would be high on the second hand purchase list though.. big thirsty expansive beasts.. great if you need to tow or lug lots of things, family or dogs about.. if not you are better with a newer cheaper more economical vehicle I would think 1 TR6 Rusting away quietly
1 FARR UTV SOLD
1 International Harvester SOLD
7 x D3 all SOLD
2 x D4 both SOLD
1 x Mrs D4 'Panther' SOLD
1 x Outlander van SOLD
1 continual stream of car parts and me living in the garage...

D3 fits our need perfectly. Two dogs ,long motorway journeys and a need to carry five adults in comfort regularly.
My 1000 mile a month commute after a job location change is forcing me to use my wife’s more frugal D5 engined Volvo most of the time now though. Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007
