Disappointing email from my dealer! Is this normal from LR?
Hi
Had an email today from my supplying dealer knocking back the delivery date from mid march to at least June for my disco 4 commercial due to LR knocking back the production run. Does this sound plausible or is it a case of my dealer making things up? The only other dealing Ive had with lr was when we got the wifes Evoque, and that was delivered early!
Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine put a deposit down in nov 13 on a sport for delivery in March, he has now been told he has to wait another 6 months due to lr slippage on basic spec models in favour of higher spec production, he can pay extra and have a higher spec one earlier... He is about to cancel his order and buy an Audi instead... Bad move landrover

Both the Land Rover production plants are running a full capacity trying to meet the current levels of demand for vehicles. There is at the moment no scope for increasing production levels until the new assembly line at Solihull comes on line. This will inevitably result in delivery times for some models slipping, while other models may come forward due to the availability or non-availability of certain parts.
Heard last Friday of someone who'd ordered a new RR Sport and is being quoted September delivery.
No consolation for those who are affected by slipped delivery dates but unfortunately a consequence of demand outstripping supply at the moment.

I'd read that as upping the number of FFRRs & RRSs cf D4s. Not a suprise as they'd want to maximise the big ticket sales.

As Markate says^^^^^
Not true that base models dropped in favour of higher spec as model mix means have to build certain derivatives in order. As example pan' roof goes off to parallel station and gets slotted back in one in four, one in six, etc. above that however bias will go towards S&M priority whilst trying to satisfy all. It's hard to achieve when demand is so high
Orders for all three models in T5 building are bulging.
Not even on the management scheme below director level with anyone currently still having a D4 makes them VERY popular

24hr production at full tilt, all sites are kicking out cars as quickly as possible as others have said, staff cars are restricted - just like the evoque was.
That said - they are making cars of all types, but it doesn't take a lot for it to slip - which might have been what happened to you?Mike

Don't think there is any priority for RRS over D4. Delivery for a D4 order now is still way quicker than a RRS. I ordered my RRS in July and it is only coming next week

That's worrying.
My dealer has given me a build date for my Commercial of Feb 26th with a delivery of 1st April.
Might be his way of doing an April fools gag.

I believe Commercials go down the line as a standard vehicle and then get take off to be converted. The time taken for the conversion will depend on how busy the team doing the conversion is doing conversions to cars in the system before yours. I'd say 5 or so weeks from build to delivery is probably not far off given the work involved.

@Coalman...
I know that it appears to be a pain in the arris, but stick with it!
The Commercial is like no other such vehicle and a million miles different to any double cab (and we run Toyota pick ups as well as D4's).
Getting one is a pain - I am just waiting on my replacement vehicle and this was ordered six months ago to ensure a timely changeover...
Don't give up if you can possibly help it...
Good luck!D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!
