Disabling key-in audible warning |
|
I used my (new) IIDTOOL to disable Key-In Audible Warning, along with switching from Canadian to Scandinavian DRL and enabling Brake Pad Wear Indication (it troubles me that this was disabled...). All settings taken with the CCF write-back and reset. However, the chime persists regardless that the CCF now reads as disabled, so I have returned it to enabled for now. Have I missed something??
Many thanks.

I did the same as one of the first mods I did with my iidtool and it went off.
I then programmed the clock on dash mod, and the key in warning came back on, tried switching it off the same as you and found it stayed on regardless of the setting so just learned to live with it D3 V8 with active rear diff

Apparently you need to upgrade the cars software for the chime option to work.
Be careful of the pad/dashboard options, as I think they are the wrong way round on the IID tool. e.g for the low fluid level indicators and pads. So you may have actually disabled the pad warning!
I did post about it on here, but by the sounds of it, its not been fixed.

Thanks all so far.
@kajtzu Well, tastes vary!
However, the seat bell reminder chime is disabled and I would actually like to enable it but there seems to be no related setting. Just the mythical "Ignition On and click/release nine times routine" that I have found referenced on this forum, which is not stated either to work consistently or work in reverse. Any suggestions please?

Sounds a little strange...

To which software are you referring? Instrument Pack ECU is showing as up to date. And as with the experience of @bobbygg this just encourages me to drop a line to GAP Diagnostic, who from all accounts are super responsive. A computer system cannot (ought not) give arbitrary variable responses, still less an automotive system.
By the way, where is the low fluid level indicator setting please?

Had a look. The fluid level i was referring to is coolant level low warning. 2 down from the pads.
Both mine are set to disable but they work.

Interesting... my coolant level low warning is enabled, and everything currently OK so impossible to tell for now. I have fired off an e-mail to GAP referring to these points - it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

Out of interest, what’s the difference between Scandinavian and Canadian DLR? 2007 Discovery 3 HSE
1986 Land Rover 90 Ex-MOD
1996 discovery 1 v8 (gone)

I just tried Scandinavian. As soon as engine running dip and side lights come on.
I think in Canada mode they come on when taken out of park or handbrake released. Something like that

As far as I know, and my main motive for switching, is that Scandanavian DRLs include rear lighting.
In Switzerland only front lighting is compulsory since 2013 under the Via Sicura, a very robust revision to the driving regulations. As a longtime Volvo driver it just does not feel right to drive without lighting at both ends.

Scandinavian did turn on the rears.
In the U.K. We introduced front DRLs in 2012
I am glad it was only fronts.

As a matter of curiosity: Why? We are talking rear lights, not fog lights on a clear day.
I am always reminded of London Black Cabs persistently driving around at night on side lights rather than dipped headlights. The driver does not see great improvements in visibility so saves their valuable bulbs and infinitesimal fuel efficiency... but the driver coming the other way, or pedestrian, who fails to spot the dim lamps between other cars driving on dipped headlights does not matter?

I like (or am accustomed to) having lights on at the front and back all the time and find it disconcerting when I see completely dark cars in the traffic.
As a model citizen I’ve got Scandinavian DRL on and light switch is always in the auto position.

I think you understood me wrong - I did mean the coolant and pad warnings. I enabled them via IID as they were turned off, hence my surprise that the options might be reversed..
