disabling auto wipe on windscreen washers
Does anyone know how to disable if possible the automatic windscreen wipe when the washers are activated.
Im getting really peed off with the windscreen wipers smearing all the dirt over the windscreen when the washer jets are frozen.
Is there a seperate fuse ??Duncan

they are heated, but that doesnt help below -5 at motorway speeds. the water freezes as it leaves the jets, even if its virtually a neat mix it is supposed to go down to -20 or something like that.
I guess it gets pretty cold : -5c less 80mph wind chill !!Duncan

Wouldn't have thought windchill would come into it as the fluid would be at ambient, there is no heat to take away. U need strength down to say -10c, had screen wash in -11c last week running near neat screen wash. 8)

the fluid must cool down very quickly as it leaves the jets. I can see it starting to freeze before it hits the windscreen. Then the outside of the nozzles get coated in ice and they stop working.
i thought is might add one of those 12V water heaters (the ones used to boil a cup of water from the cigarette lighter socket) to the washer bottle to keep the water nice and warm
whatever the reason, i still want to disable the auto wipe as its a pain in the even in normal warm weather...Duncan

DD wouldn't it just be cheaper to run with richer screenwash!! There's a thaw on the way (according to Gareth!) so get that weak summer weewee out of there and get some proper stuff in the bottle!! Saw -6c this morning and scushers scushing away.

Remove the windscreen and put a bit of colour in your cheeks!
I'd definitely go as suggested by DSL
refille the tank with a lower freezing fluid
mmmhhh, you could fill it with petrol, or xylene, it could leave you enough margin even if travelling at high speed

You can also then fill your washer bottle with tea or coffee - pre heated by the washer jets!
This is also a good aid to keep your passenger quiet - can't talk and drink at the same time

No, seriously, Ive had neat washer fulid in and it still freezes up. But putting the cold weather aside, I dont ever want the wipers to autmatically wipe - I wont to decide when the wipers work, even in the heat of summer

find someone with the MSV2 and he'll be able to sort this out
i've been... well a mate with the MSV2 was, able to shut the rain sensor so I AM now able to choose the right wiping speed

ive got one - but only licenced for the D3.
if someone can confirm that the MSV can disable then might invest in the D4 licenceDuncan
