Just to chip in on this - I plan to do some work on my D3 very similar to this later in the year. It may not need it, but I plan to go at every accessible bit of the chassis and underbody with a wirebrush and then treat with POR-15 - applied by brush. Will report back on how it goes with an easy bit like behind rear bumper.

Yes had mine done by Rustemaster when I got it, secondhand. Well worth it I would suggest.
Choose who you are going to have do it and go with what they recommend.
