difference xenon vs bixenon |
|
hi guys,
i was trying to find my answer in the forum but no luck.
i know we can retrofit xenon on our lr3 with halogens.
i noticed on xenon and bixenon , high beam are still halogen as high beam and low beam are separate. is it correct ?
i suppose high beam for bixenon is coupled with low beam too. until the high beam xenon reaches its max output, the halogen is on - is it correct ?
my question is if we retofit bi xenon, do they act as normal xenon low beam only with high beam halogen ?
or they really use the bulb for both high and low beam
thanks all !

I fitted some bi-xenon's & they work fine
basically there's a motorised shield that moves over the xenon bulb to create low and high beam, there is also a separate high beam halogen bulb, they are very bright headlights compared to the standard halogen units Admin on Facebook Discovery 3 & 4 Ownersgroup

that s what I thought
I was afraid to have kind of fake bi-xenon without the metal plate not working and high beam would be only halogen.
I live in the country side - it is getting very dark now so I d reather buy bi xenon instead of normal xenon.
Thanks for your help !

Watch out for the shield sticking - it's a common thing and it happens to mine.
Get out, thump it, it goes back down again.
I need to work out what's going on with it at some point as it annoys the hell out of other drivers
Mine is the full monty bi-xenons with cornering lights and the AFS system. MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

It came with them so it is all plumbed in to turn lights with the steering wheel etc.,
My 07 FFRR was a bit ropey with AFS but the D3 system has been reliable.... just this sticking hood issue I need to get sorted at some point. MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

i ve seen few retrofit topics where people say the adaptive part doesnt work when upgrading from halogens to adaptive xenons as need to wired up the the ECU (something like this)...
So you r lucky to have the system fully working ... I need to figure out what s that story about adaptive
