Diff Guards
I've seen one or two advertised but D3 has been around a while now. I'd have thought there would be a good selection of choices out there.
Am I not looking in the right places? Chances of me picking up front and rear for under £50 as can be done with any pre 2004 LR is slim i know but there must be some choice out there.Cogito ergo sum!

Pre 2004 as in tdi series or td5 easy. They are ten a penny!
D3's not so easy. Just wondered if anyone had found any bargains and if so would you be kind enough to point me in their direction.Cogito ergo sum!

D3 doesn't require diff guards as it's independent suspension in like previous disco's which are live axles, where the diff is hung down in harms wayJust remember:-

The problem with any guards is you tend to lose the one thing you really ned when off road and thats ground clearance.
Lots of the tdi/td5 diff guards are rust traps waiting to happen.

I sort of understand the pros and cons of guards. I've been into Land Rovers, both standard and modified for many many years.
However, the post 2005 vehicles are quite new to me and I was just wondering what was out there in terms of underbody protection I think.Cogito ergo sum!

You can get suspension guards, compressor guards, transmission guards as well as rock and tree sliders, not forgetting steering and sump guards.
As mentioned, the diffs are mounted high up out of the way, but the compressor is particularly vulnerable and if damaged will remove your ground clearance very quickly.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Thanks for that. That makes sense. Rock sliders and steering guard already fitted along with warn winch and safari snorkel and breathers.
Sounds as though a compressor guard might be my next sensible purchase then??Cogito ergo sum!

Nice. We did a fair bit of travelling across Europe earlier this year in our 90 and sankey camper conversion. Ddidn't quite make it down that far though.
Have you seen any compressor guards that are worth looking at?
Have safe journey too btw.Cogito ergo sum!

Prospeed seem to be the ones to go for. I've got one of their roof racks and I'm impressed with the quality.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

You can get a rear diff guard from Prospeed, it does however hang below the exhaust pipes and is rather vulnerable to getting knocks. I’ve bent mine at the edges to hit off the exhaust pipes a few times.
Diffs are generally out the way unlike axel ones so you don’t need to worry about that.
Comprsssor guard from Prospeed is a must, keep it protected.
Diff breathers, haven’t heard of issues with the factory ones bar the front needed updates to the better vent. Easy to do.
Sliders, huge range of models from cheap to expensive. I’ve currently got terrafirma ones on, but have Prospeed ones to be fitted soon.
Prospeed do engine and centre guards as well, good and strong, have them on mine. Centre does hang down a touch. Amusingly my trip average went up 1.1mpg after fitting it.
You can get others from Devon D44 which is smaller and covers less, but cheaper.
Front & rear arm guards also available from Prospeed.Paul.

Thought that would be the whole case of these "diff guards": make sure they get dinged instead of ripping the whole exhaust system apart.
Those exhaust pipes are neither cheap nor built as tough as rock sliders?
ASFIR, Devon4x4, Prospeed
May i propose to create a wiki page with sump guard plates and suppliers. I've got a pretty neat sheet of paper with quite a lot of info on there, could be factored into a nice table. Wiki will not let me in, though.
