Diesel smoke problem

I need to call upon the vast experience and knowledge of the users of this forum to fix my beloved Disco 3.

Disco 3 2006 model. Only mods are EGR blocking plates. 120,000 miles and serviced at correct intervals.

I'm getting desperate to cure this ongoing issue which has drawn a blank from a local specialist. During normal driving the exhaust is clean and overall MPG is shows as 27mpg and better on long runs, however, if I get stuck in traffic and I'm sat at tickover for anything more than about 30 seconds, I start to smell diesel and vaporised but unburnt diesel starts to smoke out of the exhaust. Once moving again it clears its lungs and all is well. The first time it did this I was towing and didn't see the exhaust smoke. I'd been stuck in a jam for a few minutes and it wasn't until I moved away and I saw the vehicles behind me disappear in a cloud of smoke that I realised there was a problem.

At the moment, I just switch off the ignition when stationary or alternatively tickle the throttle so it idles at 1500rpm both of which stops the fault from happening but crawling in traffic is a nightmare so I need to get the bottom of this.

It will also do this from a cold start if it is left on tickover for a couple of minutes so warming the car on a cold morning prior to getting in is no longer possible as the neighbours would not be impressed if I pulled away leaving a fug of diesel in the air.

Car was Terracleaned 10,000 miles ago which really improved performance but didn't fix this problem although it was less apparent.

Any ideas folks?

Agree injectors, last car we had that staretd doing this got chopped in asap as 6 injectors were getting close to the value of the car.

Have you checked the injector values on a code reader? might give you an idea if its just one or they are all going south.
