Diesel smell
Anybody had this
I get a smell like exhaust gas from the front end can't see any smoke and don't think the exhaust has any leaks as the disco is very quiet happens when stopping or standing sometimes with the engine running

Not really mate
I was thinking myself about the pre heat
It's just like a diesel exhaust smell , not worried about it just wondering what the cause was if I am pinpointing it's coming from the near side front turbo sideAll transmission oil replaced

Nearside front is where the exhaust for the fuel burning heater exits.
I'd check it isn't running when it shouldn't.

My thoughts exactly.
The FBH smells like aviation fuel when it's burning and they don't all belch out smoke either.
If it is running I'd check everything is plugged up and nothing has rattled loose.

Outside temp reads normal up here today it was reading 24 degrees at first I was thinking oil or diesel dripping on the exhaust it's that sort of fume but checked today no oil anywhere no wet pipes
it's got me baffled

Check for pooling around the injector ports. Could be leaky injector or leak off pipes.

^^^^^^^ Take the oil filer cap off and lift the engine cover. Can you see any wet patches around the injectors? I had this exact same thing with a diesel leak from 3 injectors . One of the leaks was particularly bad on the offside and diesel could be seen down the side of the block. A quick was off with brake cleaner and check with the engine running showed the issue. I was hoping it would be a new spill pipe.....It wasn't I needed 3 new injectors. Good luck. I hope it turns out to be the cheaper option if you have a leak.2008 XS Java Black

Checked the whole top of the engine and as far as I can see its bone dry nothing anywhere
Next step is to have a look under the engine pan because I changed the sump pan earlier this year as it was corroded and leaking I am thinking maybe reside oil may be getting throw up and burning off
As per Landrover it hasn't happened again for a few days
No doubt it will
