Just been and filled up and filled it completely to the top as i have a long journey. Finished filling only to hear running water. No it was diesel pouring out from under my car, probably lost a couple of gallon, stopped after about 10 mins. It looks as though it is coming from the top of the tank on the passenger side. Have filled it completely previously without any problems. The garage was very understanding.
Have probably been moused, surprised as i ive on an estate with a killer cat who patrols the drive like a CIA body guard.
Presume for the time being if i do not over fill i should be OK? If it is not rodent damage would a split tank be covered by an extended warranty? Is it likely to be anything else, been off road recently, but it is definetly not a split low down.

Oh dear, sounds like Mr mouse has struck again
if it is the top tank elbow you REALLY want to look at getting it repaired and not a tank replacement
only D4 tanks are avilable now with multiple parts for conversion
roughly £800 worth of conversion
for the sake of yours and your family safety and also just as important other road users i'd get it looked at pronto TLO has left the building.......

If it's split, then every time you go round a corner, you could be leaving a trail of deadly slippery diesel on the road which some unsuspecting motorbike rider will no doubt find......
Get it checked out & at least patched pronto Bodsys Brake Bible

How hard is this? From previous threads looks as though i need to get the tank off. If it is only an hour or so job might get the mechanic we use to do it, do not want to break my nails . Will drain some of the tank before going out today as have no choice but to use today.

it's not difficult
the tank is held in by a metal cradle
undo bolts for this and unclip hoses and gently lower to floor
less fuel in it the better
get it done soon though cos as it is you are a danger to other road users TLO has left the building.......

I've also been 'moused' and managed to do a quick repair. Managed to lower the tank without fully removing it although you will need to disconnect the fill line. Just enough to get at the gnawed elbow with some Tigerseal which has done the trick until I get round to doing a full removal and repair. One point to watch is as this is the breather pipe be careful not to get too much sealant into the hole as it restricts the breather and makes the tank harder to fill at the pumps.
