Replaced my dead 65AH aux battery with a new 85AH battery JUST fitted as long as the battery cover isn’t expected to go down that last 10mm to clip on 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Wanted to upgrade to lithium but couldn’t find the space for the battery and dc dc charger I needed for it. Battery cover doesn’t fully close but no interference with the bonnet. Width length fits perfect, just a smidge too high2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

New to Discovery 4 ownership!
Had to change my dipped beams today and found it quite easy with no tools (besides me) required!

OK, so it wasn't today. It was a couple of weeks ago, but I drove to Kuwait and picked up an Alu-Cab 180 shadow awning and a "The Long Ranger" auxiliary fuel tank.
Yesterday, I fitted the in-car wiring for the tank (the fuel gauge, switch and timer). I will hopefully install the tank itself next weekend.
Last week, I installed, and then today, I removed the aero front on my Prospeed roof rack. There's another post on that with more detail - but anyway, I'm not a happy bunny.Chris

Yesterday, I fitted "The Long Ranger" 104L aux fuel tank. I was surprised at how straightforward it was to do. Those Australian chaps think of everything.
The only issue I had was that the tails that came to connect the fuel pump to the fuel hose were the wrong size. I spotted that a couple of weeks back and ordered the correct size. I emailed the tank manufacturer, but they didn't respond.
Getting the tank lifted under the car and in position whilst I drilled the mounting holes was a bit of a challenge. In the end, we (the wife and I) managed to do it using the air jack in conjunction with a couple of Irwin clamps.
Test filled it with 20 litres this morning. I went for a drive and used it to pump fuel into the main tank, and it worked like magic. I came home, stripped the wheel arch liner out again to check for leaks, and checked everything was tight. All good.
Filled both tanks this afternoon - so in theory, i have 191 litres of fuel on board. Chris

Theres a 45 litre water tank hidden between the cargo barrier and the drawers themselves. You can just make out the breather clipped to the right hand side of the barrier. there are two outlets, one gravity fed and one pump fed.
The workbench is made out of two ikea chopping boards.
the shelf with the bag in it above the drawers stores our cleanwaste camp toilet and associated supplies
It ended up taking a fair bit way longer than I had originally planned, but it's finally done. covering everything in speaker box carpet (all i could get hold of) has hidden a fair bit of shoddy workmanship.
I think in summary: I discovered that I've not got what it takes to be a carpenter.Chris

Big service & new front tyres two weeks ago.
Successfully used the lightweight Thule Xpress bicycle carrier over a long trip last week: rear hatch not accessible with the bike on but otherwise impressed with it.
Added 2 stroke to a full tank for the first time today.Current: D4 TDV HSE

Replaced the Prospeed roof rack and ladder with the Frontrunner Slimline II. The Frontrunner rack is far more practical than the new Prospeed version. The frontrunner ladder is not as nice as the Prospeed however - but sadly it had to be changed as the Prospeed ladder interferes with the Frontrunner rack.
The killer feature of the Frontrunner rack is the ability to store a stainless steel table under the roofrack.Chris

Went to the car to test something and found the front number plate on the drive (thats warm weather for you.
Three different layers of double sided tape may not of held the plate but still an absolute pig to scrape off.
Didn't take too much of a tug to remove the back as well.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

Synchronicity in mileage…
I’d booked mine in for a gratuitous oil and filters - having done over 11,000 miles since the end of October, and working on the basis that oil is cheaper than steel, I thought it was worth doing..
Entered the service info and had to do a double take at the mileage…
