Bahrain 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Landmark LE Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

Eventful few weeks. Car went into the dealer for a load of aircon work. Got car back, drove it for a few days, took family to beach, started car for the trip home and the aircon basically exploded venting a load of dust and refrigerant into the cabin. Took car back to dealer, they fixed it - apparently an o-ring failed. Now I'm paranoid that the aircon isn't blowing as cold as it should be, even though the wife assures me it's fine.

I changed both diff oils and the transfer case oil at the weekend. In the course of doing that had to have the underbody cover off and noticed an oil leak behind the sump Big Cry

Well yesterday actually but this was my first experience with snow mode. I live on a hill, the car was slipping sideways when I came off the drive, engage snow mode and it drove straight as a die and with hardly any wheelslip. Nice

OK it's been about 3 weeks since I last took a look at the oil leak at the back of the engine and gave it a clean with some brake cleaner. Very very minimal stain has returned so I'm not overly concerned. Will mark that as something to keep an eye on.

Changed the transmission fluid using Robbies guide yesterday. Managed to mangle the drain plug by using the ball end of my allen key to remove it. Luckily I'd bought a replacement just in case. Had to complete the process this morning as it took all night for the oil to cool to below 30 degrees. Reset adaptations with my IIDTool. Can't say that the car drove badly before, but I *think* its a bit smoother now. Fluid that came out was a fair bit darker than the lifeguard 8 that I put it. Car is MY14, was registered in Jan 2014 and has done just shy or 91K KMs

Next job is to fabricate a bracket for the single ARB compressor I've just bought. Going to mock one up in cardboard and get a place to cut it out of a sheet of metal for me.

Keeping this thread going...

Car is definitely driving better since changing the transmission fluid. Also.. maybe is just a little bit more fuel efficient. *I want to believe*.

Changed out the vanity mirrors for new as the old ones had the covers broken when I bought the car. Doubt that I will ever actually use them, but the fact that they were broken was bothering me.

Fitted new windscreen wiper jets as the old ones were really blocked and the water was more of a dribble than a jet. Car was fitted with non heated wiper jets (makes sense in Bahrain), but Advanced Factors advised that the non heated ones were out of stock. Heated jets purchased, and the wiring was already in place, so for what it's worth I connected them. Have yet to fit associated fuse.

New "Start Engine Stop" button fitted as the old one had smudged lettering and was looking proper scruffy.

Started to fit short roof rails as car came with none. Getting the clips out of the roof rail trim was a proper Censored . Ended up snapping 3 and leaving the plastic embedded in the stud. Tried to drill out the plastic remnants but clearly didnt get it all as when screwing in the bolt to hold the rail, it was really tight and I ended up snapping it Big Cry Censored Big Cry . At the very least I've got something to keep me amused next weekend.

Still waiting on prospeed sliders and front guard. I ordered them in mid October but sounds like they have had a backlog in getting kit powder coated.

Happy days!

I’ve hit some huge pot holes and never had anything like that.

I guess Duratracs are a lot tougher than the standard road tyres.

Hope you manage to get it sorted ok

Size

It was exactly wheel size and about 10cm deep with a sharp edge on the way out. Fair jolted the car!

Hope it was just the tyres and it didn’t crack the rims. Confused
