I have taken my LR3 out into the Imperial Desert here in Southern California more than a few times... these are multi-day trips out into the dunes, with tires aired down to 15 PSI. Haven't had any problems except for the auto-leveling getting angry if you stop on a slope. If you stay on a slope for more than 30 seconds or so without moving, the suspension tries to level out the vehicle and can't, so it throws a fault. If you just get to level ground and re-start, everything is fine.
Only real problem I had was from hauling ass in the sand (about 55 mph) and hitting a small whoop and came down very hard on the front end, it popped off the front tow recovery cover and I didn't notice until that night. Had to buy a new one, which was 40 bucks US.
It consistently impresses all of the naysayers that think it's only a soccer mom's grocery-getter.

BTW for the leveling (I don't have it on the SE) did you switch off the DSC ?

Your vehicle will be similar to an 'S' in the UK, so if you air suspension, you will have self levelling.

I do have the air suspension, but when I'm parked non horizontal, the car is not leveling itself.

It is not going to be perfectly level, but it will attempt to place the wheels with as near equal pressure on each footprint. So on a hill it will never be level, but the car will attempt to equal the balance.
