Derbyshire Peak District Greenlanes and BOATS |
|
Does anyone know details of lanes in the peak district that are interesting and scenic to drive that are of a non damaging nature. Recomendations of lanes between the Ashbourne and Buxton area would be appreciated or details of any websites that give this information would be appreciated. I am keen to explore this area and support the responsible use of these lanes given the pressure to close access to vehicles on many of them.

Hi Meza,
Sorry, I don't have the answer, but am interested in what others post as I live just over the border in staffordshire and would also like to do some of those lanes. Will keep an eye on this post with interest. If anyone responds, then maybe a small group of us to meet up to do them.
thanks

Ive done most of the lanes in this area a couple of years ago. I live in Stoke so not to far from me.
Now there's a few that may have TRO's etc so before I post up details of lanes etc I want to check
the status as I wouldn't want anyone getting in trouble.
Theres a few vids of me and my mate on youtube. im in my old pajero before I saw the light and had the D3 .
Heres one

Ben, It would be good if you had some route details to put them into a new topic in green lanes and ask martin to make it sticky Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Do you chaps have and know how to use an OS map, or Memory Map on a tablet, with a GPS? Its the first skill necessary.
I have a good selection of routes in the PDNP, but I am very wary of putting them in a public place at the moment, as the situation in the Peaks is not very good. There are a number of lanes that are now permanently TRO'd, and a number that are about to be.
I really would suggest that you join a Land Rover or 4x4 organisation, eg the Green Lane Assosciation (GLASS) or the Peaks and Dukeries Land Rover Club http://www.panddlrc.co.uk/news.php to name a couple (others are available). Then you will be able to join in on their green lane trips etc.
I think it is very important to do your research yourself, as if a mistake is made and you get in trouble, by driving somewhere you shouldn't then you only have yourself to blame!
You can contact the ROW office in Matlock, and ask to go and see the definitive map.
The reason I am not been very helpful is that I have not had time recently to stay on top of the current status of many of my favourite lanes, so would not want you to get into trouble.
If you join a club, they will more than likely have a ROW officer who will do this for the club.
