demo PRICE WHAT SHOULD I PAY for a demo? |
|
Seen a dealer demo 3.0 GS with AUTO, met black paint, bright pack and folding mirrors for £33,995 with 8k on the clock.
What should I offer the dealer? Surely he would have written this down quite abit since september Cars:-MY11 Evoque SD4 Pure, MY12 Defender 90 XS & MY08 Evo X RS

Given that a brand new one from Motorlogix in that exact spec would cost £32967.25 I would try and haggle a bit or just order a new one.

The way to look at the deal is if you traded that car in with 8K on the clock the dealer would probably offer £26k-£27k and mark up to £30k.
These might be in short supply just now but £2k or £3k is not to be sniffed at!

Hi
Guess it depends if you are happy to wait and/or want to pay the extra £1k
Personally I'd rather pay £1k more and get a shiny new one (perhaps with some different/additonal options ) that no-one else had "test driven" for 8k miles.

If Motorlogix are quoting £33k, then the dealer selling the demo paid a lot less than that (I'm sure LR provide incentives for dealer demo registrations just as other manufacturers do - at a guess they paid maybe £30k ), so if they got £34k out of you they are still turning a profit on a car that has been used for 8k miles which is just taking the micky, and even the £32k is high (interesting though how easily they knocked £2k off!!!).
I'd not touch an ex-demo other than at a substantial discount - just think how most of us treat a test drive... it's an opportunity to see just how the car performs without the worry of it being our own vehicle
Somewhere in the region of £28-30k would be realistic - don't be taken in by any artificial supply/demand issue at present, we've seen them before & they don't last If you can wait a couple of months, spec one up for yourself and shop around for the cheapest price whether Motorlogix or otherwise , that way you have a brand new car and no worries of its history
