Ordered on the 9th of Jan and had a tentative delivery date of the first week in April. Struggling to get a build date out of the dealer
That'd fit with the 15 weeks i was told - ordered end of Jan, they said mid-May.

Looks like mine will be ready Monday week; currently still sailing just of the SE corner of Australia, landing tomorrow.
Dealer said 5 days to get it ready, but will be away, so...

collected mine on Friday; didnt have an opportunity to drive it on saturday, but took a trip down to south coast today to make a totally unnecessary check on my holiday home having sidesteps (Britpart) and mud guards (from Slimer) fitted tomorrow by a local independent, and then will post some pics
SWMBO wondered if we should have ordered Aintree Green instead of Orkney Grey
Had some trouble finding a small flat space in the dashboard area on which to mount my car Ganesh [for good luck against the 13 number plate!]
D4 XS Orkney Grey/Ebony, privacy glass and soon to have mudflaps and sidesteps

I rang the dealer to see when my car will arrive and his reply was "We we call you when it arrives".
He said he does not know at what stage the car is at in the build but they will receive and email when the car is on its way from LR.
Well i have made my mind up that if the car does not arrive on stated date then I will ask them to give me a Discovery 4 until my car arrives.

That's the sort of response i got - they said they'd be in touch in April some time - so it seems odd that some dealers know when their build slots are (which was what happened with my last car) yet others don't...

Emailed my online broker chappie last night - showing as delivered to dealer 25/5 - which is a good couple of weeks after I originally thought and means delivery will be c17 weeks from order.

The dealer said to me yesterday that a engine number and chasis number has been allocated to the car.
Does this mean that the car is built awaiting delivery?

Hmmm
Cold orders seem to take 14-16 weeks and are what the brokers use to get the best prices. I ordered mine 1st April, delivery 18tg May - existing dealer build slot.

That's what my broker quoted me - on reflection I might have been better off paying a few quid more and getting it from a dealer who had a slot, but they royally cheesed me off with their comedy trade-in offer, and the online chappie offered me a significantly bigger discount (so a factory ordered car to my spec was the same price as a 3 month old demo they offered me).
Still - at least I have the joy of pootling around in a Kia Sportage for a few weeks!
