Will have a look at the Pope Torch, at less than the price of a sarnie & coffee it's worth a punt for torches left in the glove box for the unexpected.
I grabbed a couple a while back. Only one brightness but ideal as one to leave by the back door for taking the dogs around the paddock before bed time. For when it matters I have a couple of lensers (argh! I'm agreeing with Pete!) and will probably upgrade to the Fenix models at some point as I have a lot of the appropriate batteries and appreciate the dual use aspect (USB charging for the phone for example)I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I've recently started bouldering at night and needed a head torch that I wouldn't be too fussed about as it would be stuffed in a rucksack and generally bounced off sandstone quite often!!
I went for this, 3 x XML CREE including 18650 batteries and leads. All I can say is, having already got a Lenser P7 and P3 for work.....this wins hands down, completely blown away by it.
It clearly isn't the stated lumen output.....I know this. But it's very bright, makes my exploring in the dark very safe!
I've ended up buying 5000mAh batteries and a standalone charger at £15 extra.
Hope this helps someone! It really is cheap and cheerful.

If I was out and about in a dangerous environment in the dark I'd want the best quality torch I could afford with a second as a back up.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Yeh I appreciate that, I do always tend to go for 'the best', using a Lenser P7 for backup/work, but during the month I needed a head torch, budget was an issue.
This has proved itself, time after time. Therefore, I can recommend it.
Perhaps a discussion for another time, just highlighting a product.

Well we may as well all go to pound shops if thats the case, this is meant to be a forum for Discovery owners = people who appreciate and want quality, not some bazaar.
Just because something is cheap, doesn't always mean it is cheap rubbish and in this case, the head torch I linked to, offers very good value for money, which was why I recommended it. You seem very quick to denounce something purely because it's cheap and not stupidly priced like some of the items you often recommend.
From your comments I presume you've bought the cheap head torch, written it off as rubbish and commented accordingly....................no, thought not.
We don't all have a bottomless pit of cash like you DT to waste on cigars or coffee that we don't even consume or any other little bit of triviality that takes our fancy, some of us are on a somewhat tighter budget so appreciate the option to buy something half decent at a reasonable price.Mods:

I don't have a bottomless pit at all, I drive an 09 GS which enables me to buy what I want, if I had a new £63k car it would be different, it's called choice but doesn't distract from buying quality. I shop in Lidls and they have some great stuff there, my point was that when it comes to something you need to rely on I steer away from cheap rubbish, what I have done is buy a torch so that I could review it, the price is peanuts compared to what exchanges hands on here, at least I made the effort to buy it to help
I'm sure there are people on here looking for a decent torch, I was responding to the OP who gave a brief, I hopefully found a product to match, it is up to him to decide. I have an Alpkit head torch, I know others on here have them, great value for £12 or so but not what was asked for so I didn't mention it. If you want a cheap torch then do as you wish, mine will last for life so that was my choice, if you saw it then it would blow you away, it would make others look like cheap fairy lights but if you want a cheapo fairy light carry on, I hope my purchase has helped some who appreciate quality

And my point was you wrote off the Pope torch based only on its price alone which was underlined when you confirmed you'd not bought one. Odd that you have such an opinion on something you've never owned or even presumably seen.
Maybe you should get one, surprise yourself and then come back and give an opinion based on how good it really is for what little it costs rather than pooh pooh it just for being cheap. Mods:

And my point is I didn't poo poo any torch, not everybody wants cheapo all the time, people can make their own choice, they have one extreme to the other, maybe pushing cheapo all the time is as bad as showing the best so let's leave it there, why not try a Fenix you may realise what you've been missing out on

If so I promise to take it out the drawer now and again to check
Amazingly the single 18650 battery is perfect in it, not heavy at all and choice of light power awesome
