This is why I didn't muck round replacing my oil pump, more
Things to go wrong if you don't do it properly or you don't use a good quality, calibrated tension wrench.
I wonder if the crank pulley bolt was tensioned as per the LR instructions or
They just did German tension "Snice and tight"

the workshop turned the engine manually and is not blocked! my question is why now egr failure.
we disconnected the egr and the engine will not start. the mechanic says that it should turn on so there is a fault

If the crankshaft pulley has spun then all the engine timing is out, If it has spun then they have not tightened the pulley bolt to the right torque value. If you have been lucky and there is no damage to the engine, what you need to do is start from the beginning and .
First thing is to insert the crank locking tool and the camshaft locking pins to make sure all cams and crankshaft are in the correct position, this will also able you to check the front belt and oil pump.
The responsibilty is with the garage that did the work, If its correct that the front crank pulley has spun then its over to them to fix your car.

Ok they did all the work, so its down to them to fix it, it was running ok before they did the work, they had to remove the crankshaft pulley to change the Oil pump.
