Several 55 plate SE's on the used part of Land Rover.co.uk for under £30k so the price looks about right, not too sure of the brought in germany bit though...

Going to Guy Salmon at Stockport tomorrow
A few of us use GS Stockport - and they know about the disco3.co.uk link up, so you might mention it to stop any scr*wing around before they start.
And don't forget, a 55 plate D3 will cost you £200 a year less in road tax Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Questioned dealer he was quoting a 'Flat Rate'. This is sharp practice note if you are ever quoted a flat rate double it it is used so they appear cheaper.
I thought under the latest FSA regulations it was illegal to withold the APR and quote another measure of the rate - Any financial wizards out there?Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

under the fsa you cant just include credit protection or gap insurnace. basically any insurance based products without handing a customer the key facts statement and going though the demands and needs statement. its not got anything to do with what rate you are quoted.
that aa statement is a bit rubbish really as it is very difficult (if not impossible) to work out a finance figure from using an apr. you have to use a flat rate. apr is roughly double the flat rate. so the reason you got told what "rate" it is was is because that is what dealers use.. unless you asked what apr is it and he gave you the flat rate. that is a bit naughty.
but then again banks are a lot worse! (see this weeks headlines) they still assumptavely quote cpi and lure you in with a headline 6.9 apr that you will not qualify for normally.
other than that i have worked for some altertative makes over the years and it all come down to pressure from the sales managers/powers that be to sell more, its a common thing to find some salesmen try a little To hard to get the sale and revert to a few porkies to get there.
but there is one problem with telling fibs. it always come round and bite you on the ass....selling land rovers is like making love to a beautiful woman.....

Banks haven't quoted flat rates for over 10 years and generally because of the lack of fees the cost of borrowing can be calculated. Not quoting the APR is just dishonest IMO.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

if your asked for an apr yes. written quotations will have the apr by law of course. you should always ask for a written quotation on anything really to avoid these issues.selling land rovers is like making love to a beautiful woman.....

im not defending this type of salesmanship btw. problem with situations like this is because of assumption. the customer will asume the salesman is talking in aprs. been happening for years...even taught as a "tactic" by some of the more notorious selling courses from the 80'sselling land rovers is like making love to a beautiful woman.....

My home town .....it's a bit rough .......not unlike my goodself
We used to go out on a Friday and Saturday night for a few beers and it was like stepping onto the set of "Gunfight at the OK Corral" It is getting a bit better I hear ...only one or two murders every week. Despite all of this ....the people are far more caring in comparison to the London area IMHO. At least the people of Newport would p!ss on you if you were on fire in the street. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

GS, Knutsford ......
Avoid......
they tried to screw me on finance ... could have cost me an extra £2k if I hadn't spotted a lower APR on the LR website.
