Dealer recommendation for new Disco 4 order |
|
Hi all, Im looking to order a new Disco 4 and trade in my nearly 3 year old Disco 4 as part ex.
Ideally looking at a new Disco 4 XS with a few extras, or may be able to be persuaded to go for a HSE if the price is right. My trade in is a Disco 4 XS with extras, will be 3 years old in June and has only 25K on the clock.
Any recommendations of a decent dealer who is willing to 'negotiate' on list price and part ex value to secure an order.
Ideally located around Hertfordshire area, but I am more than willing to travel (my last Disco 4 I bought from Sturgess in Leicester)
I have already been into Lancaster Welwyn......and the service has not been great with no room for much 'negotiation' on price!

Each dealer will be different at different times of the year etc etc - there is no hard and fast rule. I suppose its how much do you intend to get off or do you expect off?
8% maybe 10% as a normal max retail customer discount...you may get a little more with the NFU because of how that discount works...but actually they don't need to offer any discount to shift the cars, they are maxed out. So its not unheard of to have a few % only more as a gesture
That said - its an interesting concept, you don't tend to go into curry's and expect 20% off at 2k tv? Mike

You could be struggling to get too good a deal as they are on a waiting list just now. Especially with the 14 reg next week and all the people who have already placed orders and are waiting for the new reg.
I got a great deal because I wasn't bothered about a 14 plate.
Mine got registered in January.

Have been in contact with a few brokers and can probably get around £3-4k off list at the moment so would be happy with equivalent direct from a dealer
Achieved around 10% of my 2011 D4 so will see what I can get by shopping around. Agree that at the moment it seems as business is good so the couple of dealers I have spoken to so far we're not that enthusiastic about discounts.
Not in a huge rush so will be continuing to shop around!

At certain times 10% is about the highest retail (note normal retail customer) discount you can expect (noting there might be other offers eg NFU which could increase it).
Brokers work in different ways so saving the 4-7% would be reasonable, you could get there with a dealer - but its timing etc
time of the year will always be crucial though as will your flexibility on what you want. Mike

Paul Bradley at Beadles LandRover Sidcup is a top bloke too! If you speak to him, tell him I recommended him. Good luck, but as has been said before, prices are quite firm at the minute. Having said that, I know that Beadles were looking for recent ish second hand stock a while back and I got great trade in values on my D4 and my wife's FL2 so it might be worth giving him a bell?

Don't be fooled by brokers taking your order and given you a price as a done deal. The next thing they do is email all the dealerships and say they have a customer with £x to spend and wants this model blah blah. Unless they get a dealer who is desparate to shift cars for little return their requests are often ignored.

We got an 8% discount from a broker who 'introduced' us to a Main Dealer who took the deposit etc. note that this Main Dealer would only give us about 3% direct.
We also have 5% from the NFU so we are not doing too badly

Thanks all....am currently in 'discussions' with a few dealers as per your recommendations...so will let you know how it goes!
And....if the price is not right for the trade in, I may have a June 2011 Disco 4 XS, in Black with Black leather, Adaptive Zenons, Privacy glass, side steps, electric seat pack and 25K on the clock up for grabs!
Thanks again!

Remember the dealer will have the D4's build sheet and place his advertising based on it.....
