Dealer prices on brakes
Hi all
Would anyone be able to give me the heads up on what dealers are likely to quote on brake discs and also brake pads?

A jaw-dropping amount measures in multiple hundreds. Quite shocking really.
Back in the real world you can buy better pads at Advanced Factors and still have money left over for a holiday.

I struggle to remember what I have been quoted in the last 18 months for brakes.
Something like £300 for pads, front or rear, not all four! Front discs was about £550 I think.
I am a complete novice at doing brakes but you can buy all the tools needed and the discs and pads for less than that. Download a copy of the brake bible from here and do it your self. I did.
As I said bit of a novice and took me about 3 hours to do front pads and discs. Half of that was just double checking everything and jacking the car up and taking wheels off, etc. Would take me substantially less if I did it again.Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders
My dealer quoted £800 for pads alone
As above - easily done yourself with the guidance on here I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

Buy them from Dan at Duckworths (Genuine) or Advanced Factors and DIY or a local friendly mechanic Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Think I paid about £490 inc from the local stealers for front and rear pads and discs!
Normally get them from Dan @ Duckworths as they are a tad cheaper but I was in a rush at the time so had to bite the bullet !!MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

Main dealer prices for parts are approx 80 quid each for front discs (which are made by Brembo), 140quid for front pads, dont know about rears.

Guy Salmon Thames Ditton quoted me £300 for just the rear pads in June, so I went to AJS Tyres in Kingswood and had all four corners done for £280. Done while I had a chat with them about the custom racing defender they were putting together

Last month I paid £440 for pads all round and rear discs fitted at my local dealer, didn't think it was too bad.

Brembo pads currently included in EuroCarparts service sale at £28 a set if your up for DIY. Just checked with my reg number and they have them in stock.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
