dead engine on highway
my d4 left me on the highway, after 30sec of a weird noise, engine stoped completely, dead, lights and dash on, no warning , but no restart.....
send it the the tanger dealer, (same company as casablanca dealership), got a call they r changing the engine completely (3.0 tdv6 245 hp), they don't know what's going on...
NO car for 6 weeks, no courtesy car, the old engine was only 18000 km, very disapointed about the service of land rover here in morocco, i would like to contact land rover headquarters, any clue where i should complain (email, phone adress???)
still love the car, but this situation s........ks
did u hear anything like it in the uk or else???
sorry for sharing this bad news.....

Never heard of similar, but have a D3 so not really followed D4 engine things. Might be worth asking LR Customer Services to intervene to get you a replacement ar as it is totally unacceptable to be without transport for 6 week.
Wonder what happened with the engine, sounds like it has completely seized up!

yours is the second D4 with exactly the same issue that I have heard of this week. The other one gave up the ghost and would not run, when LR dealers checked it the engine was shot. I think the person might post about it later this week or early in the new year.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I can feel for you pipolepaw
As Russell has alluded to, I had a 3.0 TDV6 D4 engine fail on me on Friday, and I've been told by my dealer I need a new engine too.
Thankfully the lead time is much shorter in the UK (about two weeks ish) - plus I have a loan car from Land Rover too - they have been very good in that respect.
Hope we both have our D4s back on the road soon.747_JK

No - I understand in these cirumstances LR only pay the dealer to do so much investigation. And beyone what I know already about the bits of metal found in the sump etc, I know no more. One would presume LR have engines such as this back to HQ for thorough investigation - but I doubt the customer gets given that info. We'll se.747_JK

Per chance, were any of the D4 engines' oil distribution lines taken from Rolls Royce aero engines removed from Qantas aircraft? Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

Pipolepaw get in touch with LR headquarters in the UK. They helped me in the past when I had issues in Holland.
Ridiculous that you don't get a courtesy car.
