hi m8, i think your being more than reasonable, as i mentioned im in the industry and have been for over a decade, these things DO happen from time to time, - regarding the battery issue, these cars dont take very long to flatten batteries at the best of time, so as its a bit chilly, the guy doenst drive it far everyday then it adds up to a weak battery pretty quickly.....
although i havent seen the car/the work etc, id say you come across very knowledgeable, and have done everything i would suggest...
let me know how u get on m8

will do,
one thing I remember him mention when he went to book it in over a fournight ago was "o, I can't do it then, its going to land rover, it'll be back tuesday". I think what I'm going to do is contact the local dealers to see if they are knowledgeable of the car etc. as it could reveal a slightly more suspect scenario. Would a local dealer be able to access other dealers service records like they can with other franchise systems? if so would they be able to tell me in particular if the vehicle has had any work done? if so regarding what? which recalls have been handled etc..
Many Thanks
Daniel

I think it souinds as though you're going above & beyond, but I can see how the guy would be narked if it seems worse than when it went in. However, that notwithstanding, it would appear as though he has been having these problems for a while, given that it's just been into LR & that he has been having various error messages etc. perhaps (cynically) he's seeing you as an ideal candidate to get some work done FOC. well thing is in his defence, when the car was dropped off no fault was shown on the screen.
but against him, he's now claiming that it hasn't been back to landrover other than for servicing during his ownership.. which is different from the story he's said before.
I'm running out of energy for this one, I'll contact local dealers tomorrow see if I can get some insider news, other than that he can come and collect it when he wants.

I've been reading this thread with interest for the last day and two and wish I could help more.
I reckon that almost all of the comms (U) DTCs could *probably* be associated with a low battery, but something looks clearly wonky with the suspension.
If I remember correctly, the Suspension control module is located under the dash about 20cm below the bottom of the A-pillar (on the left hand side on LHD vehicles - not sure which side on UK vehicles).
Is it possible that it was knocked/unplugged whilst installing the audio stuff as it is in an easy place to disturb whilst running cables.
It looks to me like it's lost all communications with the suspension components at some point.
Out of interest, can your diagnostic tools give you any more data as to the reason for the DTC rather than just the standard code? (i.e low voltage, out of range etc).....also, are you able to retrieve any Freeze Frame data for these DTCs? It would be interesting to see when they were logged...
If it were more than 100-200 miles ago, then you would have a very good case to return it to it's owner and bill him for the hours you've lost.

no freeze frame or milages available, live data stream cannot communicate I do not know where it is installed in the UK spec vehicles but I double checked all modules withing arms reach of all the panels I removed incase I'd tugged a connector out or something.. it's just very very strange.

Really? You eventually managed to get it started so maybe he did; any chance it was dropped off with you already faulty to stitch you up with the bill? Did you actually successfully move the car before you started work, or was he the last driver before you got started?
Just playing devil's advocate, sounds like a strange situation all round Dr. Ian Malcolm:

well, customer turns up at 10.20pm to collect from my house.
not happy, understandably and demonstrating the system to him when suddenly all this stuff happens again. it happened the instant that he opened the drivers door. Hazards came on, interior lighting on, clocks turned off, radio off etc..
he's not impressed at all at this point and leaves. I'm flabbergasted.
any help would be appriciated

Did you / anyone remove or disturb the wiring to the ATCM? CANbus loops through it and the same symptoms can be seen by a loose plug on that module

Are the phone lines opening so we can vote off some suggestions? Dr. Ian Malcolm:
