As said above I would go on condition of the car AND the owner, if they look like a builder type guy then ist going to have had a hard life no matter what they say
A sweeping statement of a builder type guy I am one of those bulder types you speak of but I hate mess and look after my vehicles with care. No styrene cups sloshing about on my dash and I constantly get asked when am I selling my Transit. I'm sure HairyDan would vouch for my vehicles. Perhaps I'm the exceptionto the norm.
I was holding back on responding to such a statement but sod it here goes
Not sure what a building "type" is, as we can come in all shapes and sizes and have different standards of mechanical sympathy and indeed intelligence. Much the same as in any other role/vocation/profession.
My D3 works for a living but doubles up as a family car at weekends, evenings and holidays. As she tows my digger for half her life, reliability and therefore maintenance is important.
As others have said go on condition.

Nah, quite enjoying seeing money in the bank. Plus D4 is now set up for RoadTrips, next one kicks off in 4 months.

I have a tow bar, but its used for the horse box maybe once every few weeks for a short distance and for a bike rack.
Certainly not a factor in buying. as said above, look at condition and MOT history, If it has lots of advisories or fails then it probably hasn't been looked after very well..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black
