I orded and paid a deposit for a D5 back in December, my dealer says it's built but delayed due to some further checks?? I'm hearing on the grape vine it's due to the electric deplorable tow bar.....anyone know anything?

Placed my order in early October. Just been informed its built and due for delivery soon hopefully Monday. I also spec'ed the E/towbar. I've not heard anything official as to the reason for the delay but widely reported on here about shortage of said tow bars. Trying to get a straight answer out of the dealers has become a very frustrating ordeal. Very nearly cancelled my order today.

I'm also not getting a straight answer, if I don't get answers very soon I WILL be cancelling it!!
The frustrating thing is there is one on the net for sale...

Yup, if you've went for the electric tow bar then you've got a long wait. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Can you not renegotiate with the dealer for cost of new tax regime as a result of delays?

A couple of weeks ago dealer told me JLR had asked for a list of all orders that would be disadvantaged by the late delivery with the view of offering assistance. When I asked my dealer today what the outcome of this was he said he didn't know and was quite invasive as usual. I rung back later having thought about it and asked him how much he would be expecting from me on Monday when I'm hoping to take delivery at first he said he would have to recalculate which suggests he knew the JLR offer was . At that point I threw my toys out and it was then he said after speaking to his manager there would be know increase. But this is a 5 year increase so looks like I have to stand that.

if I am to understand this correctly you have ordered a vehicle to be delivered before the increases on excise duty but JLR are late delivering.
If it was me I would tell them what they can do with their vehicle unless the price is reduced to recompense you for the extra over the next 5 years.
I am sure that if you are polite in a Yorkshire way then the stealer will agree to your terms.

Unfortunately JLR say the delivery dates are not guaranteed and normally it wouldn't be a problem if it was couple of weeks late just annoying Believe me I have come close to cancelling. But if you want the car then you do the best you can. Yes I'm about being led on. It was probably put out to keep us sweet so we didn't go elsewhere until after 1st April. I will find out exactly how far they will go when the car arrives.

They better buck their ideas up as latest What Car puts it's behind Q7 in ratings to me it's very poor start for L/R.

well, I ordered mine with a 'removable' tow bar and the car arrived on time.... without the tow bar. Still waiting for it and the dealer said they've had 4 D5's in with the tow bars missing. This is almost certainly of no consolation to you (sorry to hear of the delay) but it would seem whether one specced deployable OR removable, we ain't towin' anything (or in my case, carrying bikes). This is my first LR and I'm astounded at the haphazard fashion in which this manufacturer can launch a car... guess I'll stop there before getting even more irrelevant.
