Certainly no D4 here - way too old fashioned!
Profile pic is just a nice image not a d4 image (and certainly not important)...i personally dont know how D4 owners rough it to be fair - i hear there are still dials and a mono central screen in the d4, so 1980s - d5 just takes the stress out of driving, like a comfy slipper.
Just on the back end, its actually not that bad really - its a bit like the millennium dome...people try to make it the point as its the only thing to link to, but really call it the 02 and everyone loves it Mike

Its a good advert for the d5 deniers - im surprised spec savers havent offered a forum group buy to see the beauty of the d5...practicality etc is already proven.Mike

You’re right, I can’t deny the D5 is not the car the D3/4 is. Having driven nearly 7000 miles in one with my family, it was undeniably concluded that the D5 was perfectly suited to the Tesco run and as a fashion accessory for yummy mummies. My children couldn’t deny the fact that the rear seating in the D3/4 was more comfortable and that the view from the 3rd row in the D5 was rubbish.
My wife also couldn’t deny the view that LR had missed the boat with electric and hybrid technology and that it was undeniably true that cars like the Rvian were the future. When pressed, my wife didn’t deny that she thought that the D5 was not the true replacement for the D4 and that the rear on the D5 was a design disaster.
I can’t deny it, my family didn’t like the D5 and have never been in denial about that view. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

D5 a great car in its own right, not the Disco we wanted but it’s what we got and IMO it’s still the best in class taking into account all its current competition.
D4 does what it says on the tin and does it well but internally it was getting a bit long in the the tooth.

Does the D5 not have almost exactly the same running gear as a D4? The engine is the same, assume the gearbox is etc. Just packaged and calibrated a bit differently!
I do find these threads funny mind! As long as they don’t get personal, I enjoy the banter!

Come to Surrey ...they are very fashionable ...I see one every few minutes out on the roads here

Heading down the M6 on Sunday I did think there were more D5s than D3/4s. Luckily the heavy rain helped.

IIRC, Red Merle does a lot of business miles and as he couldn’t buy a new D4 in 2017 he bought a FFRR.
The seating/driving position being very similar to that of the D4.
