D4's & solar panels?

I will soon be going to Africa for a year & unfortunately my D4 is not coming with me Big Cry

It is going into storage with my parents, it will be used periodically by my father & I will be home to use it occassionally but it will be sat for long periods.

I know that like most modern cars they don't like it when the battery goes flat & that even stood still they are fairly power hungry.

Can I leave a solar panel plugged in to trickle charge the battery Question

Is it going to hurt the electrics or the computer Question

If its not feasible what are my other options Question

Any help appreciated ........ volunteers to 'look after it like it was their own' not required Laughing

Hi, if you do a search for solar or dual battery there are posts that answer this. I'm not trying to be smart, just that I've been searching for dual battery answers and came across them. From memory a 5W panel is perfect for the job(but don't quote me)
or spend a few bucks and get a ctek charger that will sit there and do it's thing while you're away.

edt: I found this thread. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic86063.html?highlight=solar

you ca but not via the cig lighter socket.

either find perm live or go straight onto battery.

small trickle charge won't do any harm.

Nick

I would go for a Cetek charger.

If you search the forum there are some useful threads about how you can "hard-wire" it.

It's an intelligent charger so won't overcharge your battery.

Not cheap, but does the job.
