Something curious; have been towing my boat with LED trailer lights now for 2 years with no problems, apart from the in dash trailer symbol not illuminating. This morning connected the boat up; stop lights and lights working OK, but when I use the left indicator, it flashes, but so too does the right one, albeit more dimly. Same happens when I select the right indicator; the left flashes with it but at a lower illumination. When I put my D1 on the boat trailer all is perfect. And when I put my D4 on my camper trailer, which is non LED, all is fine there too. Am taking to the dealer next week, but wondered if anyone has any ideas or similar experience? My view is a poor earth I'm the trailer. Either the plug or one of the light mountings. It could be the LED but I would check earths first. LR did, may still do, a different lighting kit for LED trailer lights.
Hope it is a simple fix. Rodey L

Hi Jeff,
Yes sounds like a bad earth, the indicator is earthing through the other bulb and then to earth. Worth checking the car and trailer electrics, especially the plug and socket connections. A narrow wire brush like a bottle brush is good for cleaning the plug and socket contacts MY05 Discovery 3 G4 LRG4C-14 Stage 3 & 4 Bolivia Team Fleet 49

Turns out nothing wrong with D4 or trailer. This is a well known issue which is corrected by a resistor/converter between car and trailer or a simple home fix. There is plenty on the Australian Land Rover Owners site and this one about the issue. I bought the converter and all is perfect now, including the car recognising the trailer. Er, I thought the 'well known issue' was for Discoverys that do not have LEDs themselves when attaching a trailer that does.
I thought that if the disco had LEDs and the trailer did then there was NO problem!
The converter stops the signal that the Disco sends for a bulb check and if the trailer has LEDs it gets in a 'tiz' and causes the LEDs on the trailer to slowly flash at a reduced brightness (on my old D3 it did anyway).
I have yet to hook up my D4 (with factory LEDs) to the trailer though!! regards
Peter

Hope to find out the answer in the next few days when I pick up my new D4.
One of the first things I will do is hook up to the Van to see how it works.
My old D3 had the first production line (I think) shunt from Lab Electronics. No problems with it over the last eight years. Retired Bob

The D4 and LEDs isn't as bad as the D3, the D4 only needs a resistor, not one of those Lab Electronics gismos, plenty of info on this on AULRO.
