I’m nearing the installation of the xenon 4.5 headlights on my D3, I’ve read through a couple of posts before but can someone just confirm to me exactly what I need to do? I believe I piggyback an ignition feed from the fuse box beside the battery and run a supply to pin 8 on my original D3 headlight plugs. Do I take one wire to the LHS plug and ten splice another to the RHS plug? The plugs already have a wire in terminal 8, what becomes of this wire? Thanks

Led DRLs weren’t a
Thing in 2009 so you won’t turn them on by software

Have you modified your wiring yet?

I’ve recently done this on mine, had to mess around and install a relay for the headlamps also as I wasn’t getting High beam from the shutters on anything but the standard headlamp setting.
As for the DRLs 12v ignition feed to pin 8 and you get the Bright DRL lights on.
I tried the DRL settings on the GAP IID but I only had the Scandinavian and Canadian option which was pretty much all lights on constantly upon ignition.

Thanks, what spec was your D3? Did you have a wire in pin 8 already?

Yes already a wire in on pin 8 which I think was brown/black, pretty sure I just cut it and gave it the 12v ignition live

Regarding the relay you had to fit, did your D3 have xenons originally?

Yes I had Xenons fitted but the 4.5 uses a single light source with a shutter which is why I needed the relay as the original lights had a separate bulb for high beam.
Cheers

D3 had shutter and halogen. Superior
I think you need the relay to enable you to flash people out at junctions during the day

Thanks, first time I’ve heard about the relay, thought I only needed the 12v ignition feed for the DRL.

Can you share any information about the type of relay required and fitting procedure?

For the D4 4.5 Xenon light upgrade all that was needed in the end was a CCF update to get flash working Stolen - D4 Loire Blue
