I agree it will happen, just not sure if this decade or next. Peeps keep on saying how perfect the D3/4 is, maybe JLR read that.
Hypothetically speaking of course.

Well it looks like Range Rover now has the £45k to £145k range sorted, (apart from the new luxury stretched FFRR), so we're going to need some new models for the lower (Discovery?) end soon.
Such a shame the Land Rover brand is disappearing

I'm sure it will be back as I don't think the new branding has gone down well at all.
Worth a punt for the last 18 to 24 months of the D4 but I trust normal service will return with the Generation 5 Discovery.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

The only good thing which is preventing me quite nicely is the lack of an additional £25,000,!!!
But it is gorgeous!

Quick question to those who have seen the RRS in the flesh as down under the dealers are yet to get it.
How big is the boot in real life and back seats?
Reason I ask is that I had a RRS but changed back to D4 because having a young family the D4 makes so much sense.
Love the idea of a new Sport but really worried I will buy it and then wish I had purchased a face lifted Disco.
Any insights would be very welcome as I am confused.

Easy decision people: just go to a showroom with a few RRS's and try to press on the front door outside 'metal' panel. You just won't look at it ever again!

Stop it now..... You're trying to put me off!!
In answer to alowson's question... Think bigger Evoque... This car is really not a Disco replacement and should not be considered as such.... We need a Disco for pulling horseboxes and all the paraphernalia and I'm incredibly lucky to have a D3 to do that.... My work car is a D4 and thus I was contemplating the change.. With a young family the answer is easy.... It wouldn't be suitable and practicality is out of the window...
Think of the RRS as an incredibly capable sports car that won't get stuck in the slightest bit of snow..
The rear of the cabin is beautifully sculpted with individual seats... The boot is like any other large estate..think BMW 5 series...
With young kids no contest... Buy the Missus a D4 for the kids and lugging stuff about.. Buy yourself a RRS as a sports car for Dad whose hitting his manopause....
(Must take my own advice!!!!)

Thanks Farmer Chalk, and agree with the horse box requirement.
I am in the process of deciding what to order for my 10th Land Rover. Had 4 Defenders, 4 Disco's, and one Sport.
Must admit to being excited by the thought of the new RRS which looking at the photos does not seem on the outside much smaller than the Disco. But totally dismayed at the fact the new RRS has a smaller boot than the old one? I thought cars are meant to be getting bigger.
Stuck between wanting to replace my current 2010 Disco and not wanting to wait for another 2years Disco 5. So looking at having a what might be the last true big 4x4 from LR.
The issue with the Disco is it is so bloody handy from 7 full size adults, to towing large horse boxes, to a boot that can carry a tonne of gear. And still go posh went you want it.

That's another thing with purchasing a new Disco, I will feel strange not having a great shifter. Not sure about the dial thingy.

Iain, I feel your pain! I am chatting with Paul now re changing the D4 for a RRS in April. Trying to stretch to changing Alis' FL2 for a MY14 D4 too! That's the family holiday budget out of the window then! You know it makes sense - go for it! Personally, I'm going to go for the SDV6 although the SC is VERY tempting My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

You must have some bloody good holidays! No weekend camping in Bognor for you two!
Strange the gear stick thingy in the Sport is also strange.... not immediately conducive to easy changes but it does have an instant park button which was quite good....
bizarrely didn't particularly like the dial changer on the D4 originally but now I love it... So that will be a positive for buying a new D4....
Most of the electronics, sound system, satnav et al were lifted straight out of the JLR parts bin and so you'll instantly recognise them....
With reference to the size of the car.... Appears similar in size externally but because all the seating is individual, and very comfy I must say, it is quite claustrophobic and nowhere near as airy as a Disco...
If you've got young kids they will be carsick in the RRS!! You won't get the saddles on the backseat and forget trying to load the wheelbarrow, the yard brushes and feed bowls cos it ain't gonna happen!
