D4 Roof Fin antenna

Looking for help, while washing the glass roof I manage to dislodge my roof fin / antenna. No damage as far as I can tell, however I’m struggling to see how to reattach to the roof, I assume it’s a self adhesive gasket or tape.

Anyone know what I should be searching for to replace, I don’t want to drive the vehicle and risk loosing the fin or causing any further damage.

Images from the net.

I think your first problem will be getting the special driver to remove the two screws (XYP500240) that secure the antenna to the fixing ring (EFT500041). If they're the standard screws from new they'll be the five point security type. Once you've got that sorted you need to decide if you're going to replace the ring, which comes with the self adhesive tape already installed, or you can have a go at replacing the tape yourself. Looking online they're no longer making the ring so you may be stuck with just replacing the double sided tape. Should be okay if the glass area is properly prepared/degreased.

Can anyone confirm what this antenna is for, in trying to remove (security bolts had rusted in place) I managed to snap the wire. Unit now removed, but everything in the car still works!

Ok, would make sense, that was the only element my phone signal looked weak.

No rush to replace it then, looking at it I’m sure all the elements will need replacing, the main retaining ring & the rear rubber grommet.

Thanks for the help.
