D4 Rear Camber Adjustment |
|
I've just had my D4 in for an alignment check as I noticed uneven wear on the tyres and a steering wheel out of true. The check showed most of the settings were out especially the rear camber angles. The alignment centre could not adjust these as they said it needed a 'kit' fitting.
I went back to my main dealer (plus phoned another one) and both said they had never heard of a kit being required to adjust the camber at the rear of a D4.
My main dealer is having the car in to sort the alignment out but I was wondering if anyone else had come across this problem? 2017 Discovery Sport HSE, Firenze Red

Thanks for the reply Disco Mikey..... but could you please explain why it is a bit of a PITA? The printouts from my wheel alignment check showed the rear camber settings were over 1.5 degrees outside of the specified range! 2017 Discovery Sport HSE, Firenze Red

It's awkward to loosen the tight knuckle/cam bolt with the rear wheels in place and of course you need the wheels on to do the alignment, so basically the couldn't be arsed by the sound of it.

The 'kit' needed is a couple of spanners.
You loosen the top bolt on the hub and turn it to adjust the camber, while fitted to four wheel alignment machine.
Test equipment is recommended to put the suspension in tight tolerance mode for a more accurate result.

Thanks to all who have replied and the advice offered. The car is going into my main dealer in a couple of weeks for the alignment to be checked and adjusted. 2017 Discovery Sport HSE, Firenze Red

If your dealer has a hunter wheel alignment set up with the correct attatchment you can adjust the rear with the wheels off, makes it really easy then.
