D4 powerfold mirrors
Hi
The D4's,powerfold mirrors fold in when the car is locked, but is there an option for them NOT to do this. With my towing mirrors fitted, the bottom bar would hit the bodywork just below the window, something I dont want to happen. I'd prefer to choose when I want them to fold in.

OK, just been looking, so if the dealer (or via faultmate) can turn the auto fold on locking option off, how do you then powerfold them?

push both L&R mirror buttons together... hey presto.
there is a kind of workaround i use if suspect the mirrors might be frozen (or coudl freeze overnight)
if your quick you press lock then unlock they mirrors dont fold out, vice versa works but not really a full time solution!XC90 T8 R Design Pro

So get them disabled via faultmate, and then use the two buttons pressed to get them to fold when I want them to - sounds good to me
I use Milenco Grand Aero's (quite old now, a slighlty different shape to the current ones) with the round bar positioned along the bottom edge of the door mirror. This way, the clamps come up underneath, so no danger of marking the bit of the morror housing you can see. They fit really nice this way round, but I noticed there wasnt enough clearance for the round bar when the mirror folded in.

Will the arms not slide out a little so that they avoid the bodywork? Sorry, I'm not au fait with fitting them to the bottom of the car's mirrors.

I've never had a problem with Grand Aeros marking the mirrors, the rubber grips have been fine on the current D4 and the two previous Freelander 2's (same mirrors) all have had colour coded mirrors

Al, mids meet on the 14th October if you want them switching off. never switched them off on a d4 before, but will have a look at the option Bodsys Brake Bible

did you switch off the powerfold mirrors with faultmate?
Can the mirrors be fold with the switches after the deactivation?

we didnt, as Bodsy couldnt find the option as there were loads of menus to try and find the right option.

It's under 'Base Vehicle Configuration' and is titled 'Rear view mirrors - Outer' and the options are:
- Without retractable mirrors
- With retractable mirrors
- Retractable mirrors and integrated logic
You can type your vin into the Faultmate Genesis demo and play around with your 'as built' settings before asking for a Faultmate guru to come around and do it for real. It can save a lot of time.

its not quite that simple. I dont want them fully turned off, I just didnt want them fold in on locking.
