Rear Locking Diff. yes/no?

As a total noob to LR, I asked the same question of LRE at Ashford prior to ordering. Very firm answer was that as I will be towing a large twin axle caravan, he would definitely recommend it. My own thoughts were that I would have it, for no better reason than that it would be too late to change my mind later.

Other factor might be that you can apparentlyonly have either the Diff. OR rear DVD entertainment. (I don't have any rear seat viewers now, so decision was easy Confused ))

Can't understand why you'd need a rear locking diff for towing a caravan....unless you're planning to pitch it in the middle of a ploughed field? Question

Would normally agree with you J@mes until my last visit to France with the 'van on X5. There was a fair amount of sliding about on the "grass pitch" mud bath that passed for a caravan site after 10 days of solid rain Rolling Eyes
I also wondered if it might (thought unlikely but possible?) have anything to do with trailer stability control.

Cheers,
