D4 Oil Level
Finally got round to changing the oil and filter at 2k miles from new on latest D4 on Xmas eve, so daft question...................
Does/will the D4 oil level indicator show if its been over filled - I think we got it right, its showing smack on the full line.
Also, possibly a question for someone like Robbie, who said that the service indicator needed resetting - when we looked, there was an option to reset the service indicator (display) and another option to reset the oil service - its this one we reset - sound correct?
Cheers

Hi Al.
Oil counter reset, resets the counter which calculates the oil dilution due to a DPF regeneration not being completed or interrupted. So this needs to be reset when changing the oil. Obviously a service reset will reset when the service is due.
Yes it will say engine overfilled when too high.
Did you know you can bypass waiting for the oil level for checking (20 minutes wait) by pressing the cruise control cancel button twice quickly when accessing the level screen.
Cheers

The cruise cancel procedure is in the workshop manual but not in the handbook. A suitable diagnostic tool can also display the oil level values live, even when the engine is running.

thats great, so it sounds like we did reset the right option, and the oil check tip is also great.
thanks

I switcheded ignition on ( wait for Press Brake to Start message to clear) Enter the service menu, scroll to oil check, press cc cancel twice, select oil check.
Worked first time. Hope it works on my Jag too.

There are 2 procedures on the workshop manual, one if you use the vacuum pump oil discharge and one if you empty the engine by the "classic" method (sump hole).
