I hope they bring back the proper Automatic gear selector on the next Discovery or or its equivalent replacement, new one seems a bit fiddly and paddle shifts too, not really my thing I am afraid. 2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial

I like Manual cars too! My little Mini's 6 spd manual gear box is fun, puts you back in touch with "precise" driving. But in a big 3.0 Disco just I like to waft along, plus command shift keeps you in control if you really need it! 2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial

If they could find a manual gearbox that would cope with the 3 litre engine it would be nice.........but as far as the D4 is concerned it was only ever an option with the early 2.7 TDV6 engine (like mine). The first batch of D4 Commercials had it as standard, as did the early D4 GS model in the UK.2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

IIRC, the manual was deleted as it wasnt rated for the 3.0 SDV6 torque output....Having had a manual 3, I like the waft mode of the auto better.
I dare say that if a greater demand for a manual existed then LR may have sourced a beefier cog-swapper but the preference even in the 3 seemed to be for an auto.
