D4 and LED trailer Lights

I know this has been discussed a lot, but I'd like to clarify my understanding of the situation.

When I had my D3 I converted my boat trailer to LEDs, and had the issue of the Indicators flashing because of the CANBUS test signal.
So I built a box of Relays and resistors that isolated the Indicators but also showed a 'load' to the system so it knew a trailer was connected:

Now I have a 65 plate D4 I'd like to confirm what I think I've understood from a search on here.

With the D4 the flashing indicators are not an issue with an LED equipped trailer, but the car doesn't 'see' that a trailer has been connected.

So, I can junk the complicated relays etc and simply fit a resister to one or both of the indicator circuits.
Is that correct?

I fitted resistors to both the indicator circuits on the D4 trailer harness, but fitted a switch. This lets me use a trailer with ‘normal’ bulbs with the resistor switch OFF, then if I use a LED equipped trailer I just turn the switch ON. MY14 TDV6
