Can we please cut out this creeping homophobia

We all know what fairies are and they are not small indents on a headlight where LEDs fit

Come guys this is 2013

you can't split the d4 lights,so your only option is get a set of Xenon ones that have the lights on them Thumbs Up

There is another option !

The "Landmark" limited edition D4's were fitted with halogen headlamp units with fairy lights.

Getting a pair of these units would be a way of having fairy lights, without having to have the CCF edited to enable Xenons.

The Halogen headlamp units are also a bit cheaper than the Xenon units & coupled with Osram Nightbereaker bulbs from Advanced Factors, you get as close to Xenon light output as you'll get IMO Thumbs Up

Part Numbers for these headlamp units are..... LR023181 & LR023186

It was suggested by someone that you could cut them open with a dremel and then glue back together. I have been looking for a damaged one to experiment on for some time before attacking mine.

So, anyone know of a damaged Halogen D4 headlamp going cheap?

Enabelling the Xenons can be done in seconds. My local Independent LR garage only charged me £30 including the dreaded VAT.

I agree, upgrading to Xenons is definitely the better way to go.

However, if you don't have easy access to someone with a Faultmate device or similar, then you can't get the Xenons enabled in the CCF.

While Faultmates etc. seem to abound over in the UK, I can't say I know of anyone here in Ireland for that has one. So in my case, for example, if I were to get Xenons for my D4, I may very well have to take a ferry trip over to the UK to have them enabled.

Also, there may be warranty issues with having the CCF edited. I can imagine the reaction if LR were to get wind of the fact that a third party device was "in" the CCF editing from factory build spec. I'd say they might use that as leverage to void your warranty, if the situation arose.

But all that said, why spend all the money just to get fairy lights, when for a little more dosh, you'd have Xenons too.

I just think of the Landmark Halogens with fairy lights, as a somewhat "softer" upgrade option.

I would wait for the upgraded new 'Discovery' Xenon lights rather than go for the D4 lights now.

led lights

Hi guys, just joined having read on here and on other sites it is a tad confusing regards these lights, some say they cant be activated and some say they can. So if they cant why have them on the motors in first place ? Cost of the lights that do have them enabled ? The motors look so much better with them on so. Why did LR not fit them to all levels of D4s ?

Appreciate yours replys

VT

In simple terms please Thumbs Up

in simple terms COST!,

the PCB's inside the headlights and LEDs cost money, and a halogen set without are much cheaper for LR to supply.

cheers
