From what I understand from other manufacturers oil level sensors, they only report when oil is too low so there's no indication that its full (home servicing) or when the level is getting down.
Oil level is electronic display on the TFT display on the dash accessing a service menu.
No manual dipstick
When oil level is low it will tell you this and also tell you how much oil to fill as overfilling is a real no,no.
LR were saying if overfilled then DO NOT DRIVE CAR, get it recovered to dealer to rectify.

I would have LOVED to have watched the public and the LR guys as you lot did a vulture on that D4. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Me too....it would have been very funny.
How did the Gaydon tech feel about your 'investigations'? I'm sure he was probably quite happy to answer 'proper' questions from people who know what they're talking about, rather than simple 'press' questions.

I'd like to know if they're going to do a winch kit etc & in which case, where do they plan to put the Aux battery?Bodsys Brake Bible
It's not looking promising for the rufty-tufty D4 with a 3.0 is it.
Beginning to look like the 2.7 will be sold as the utility/workhorse and the 3.0 will be sold as being "capable" but not full-on?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Tech was thrilled ...Apparently the existing Mantec non-winch will fit ...they haven't fabricated a winch tray yet but it all looks feasible. The great thing is that the two forward cameras would be very useful for winching purposes. 8)
In fact the cameras are wide angle so if you poke the nose out of a driveway where the road is obscured from the drivers view...the cameras can see the road perfectly.
Also the reversing camera has indicators for the tyre track AND the width of the body...so you can always tell exactly how close you are likely to get to objects. If someone walks behind the motor.... warning indicators sound and track the object visually on the screen 8)
There are also two cameras in the mirror housings looking at your front wheels 8)21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I really like the camera feature and would buy it for that alone! But I really need the extra battery, not for winch, but for fridge & other bits. Oh well, as soon as whoever gets theirs first, we can all chip in to get them to the southern meet so everyone can go clambouring all over their nice new shiney car Bodsys Brake Bible

TLO,
Did you get to drive it on poor / rough surfaces and if so, is the ride over bumps as good as the D3?
TIA.

I see the headlamps are still mounted using the sliders - would really have P-O'ed them if you'd popped the lamps out too. Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
I did try They were a bit stuck and I didn't have my trim tool with me.
We discussed the possibility of shortening the wings of a d3 and fitting the d4 lights with the Gaydon tech. He did entertain the idea for a couple of minutes, but he couldn't remember which ones had compatible connectors and which didn't. He then went back to the script and suggested we think about buying a D4 instead of hacking about at the metalwork on our D3s
...they haven't fabricated a winch tray yet but it all looks feasible
I'm sure he said they had a couple at Gaydon with winches on (presumably using the D3 kit in some form) and they looked 8)
I did request that when designing a winch kit they allowed for relocating the front PDC and cameras so they were still fully usable, fingers crossed
ISTR he said accessories like the winch and RAI (which will have the same upright but bigger base) would be out around January timeThe End
