D4 FBH
How can I confirm the FBH is actually working. It is making the normal whistling noise but I do not seem to be getting the exhaust fumes / smell from under the front wing. Will it make the noise if it has not actually fired up?MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

put your hand infront of the exhaust - do you feel any exhaust coming out ?
if not it could just be the pump runningDuncan

also, the pump doesnt always run at full power. I have an LED attached to mine so I can wee when the FBH is running and the pump runs at different speeds.Duncan

On icy mornings I open the car (listening to the stupid auto fold back mirrors trying to beat the deep frost and return to fully open) lean in, hand on the brake pedal and start the engine before going round and clearing the snow / ice from the side windows etc. It appears that this process may prevent the FBH from firing up as the door is open during the priming / starting phase but I can't recall this being the case with the D3.
I'll try it a different way when I go home tonight and see if the FBH does fire up when the door is kept closed.
Anyone know anything that would confirm or contradict this, or is my FBH just simply not working?

Invest in the remote/timed FBH activation! I have the factory fit unit & it's brilliant - just need to remember not to deadlock the car (as that activates interior sensors) and then 20 mins before wanting to leave in the morning, a quick "blip" on the remote & the FBH fires into life.... 20 mins later, into car, not even need for the seat heaters!, and away. And that's with a foot of snow on the ground & even if the car is covered with snow the interior fans seem to be triggered & it's great to watch the snow melt away on the windscreen
To be recommended!, and if Pete can activate it if you did not specify it as a factory option, then that's the way to go
