Dex - I do the same. Open the door, foot on the brake and start the car. I then usually hit the "Max" button to get things going.
Having the door open when starting doesn't prevent the FBH from firing up.
I then go back into the house for a while until it's all warm and cosy. Not worried about the car being nicked as we're in the middle of nowhere...... 14 Disco 4 HSE
