D4 dashcam powered from sunroof?

On the D4 the sunroof only works with ignition 'on'; so presumably there is an ignition live connection in the switch panel just behind the rear view mirror, which would be convenient for a dashcam. There's lots on the forum about powering a dashcam from the fuse box but has anyone done it from the sunroof power supply?

Just because it’s easier to connect to the fuse box it’s less hassle.

I had looked into wiring my dash cam into the lights above the mirror, but as above it was far far easier, simpler and faster to wire it to the fuse box. It probably took a minute or two to run the wires from the dashcam to the fuse box and then piggy back fuses to connect.

Not sure on the D4 but on my D3 i wired the dashcam into the power supply for the rear view mirror, of course that means when you select reverse the cam switches off.

No, no usable ignition live on the switch. The power arrive to the sunroof motor (C0784) but it's located on the 2nd row lights

Same for me, I was amazed how quick and easy it was to install, I think by the time you had access to the sunroof power you could have finished the install using a fuse.

Very many thanks for your advice; I'll go the fusebox route. Does anybody know whether there is an empty fuse holder in the glovebox fuse box which is ignition live? I believe 41 is constant live but I really want the dashcam to come on with the ignition.
Many thanks.

Many thanks again. I've now piggy-backed mine to fuse 16, (cubby box fridge) which also comes on with ignition.

Hi,
same same but different.
My D4 HSE has no lights in the sunshades, Have got two new ones with lighting.
Any ideas how I should wire these? In the hole where the shade is mounted there is no wires I can see.
