D4 bizarre driver side locking/electrical issue

OK for RHD it is passenger side - but I am LHD. So today it wouldn't unlock the drivers door or rear drivers side door (LHD remember). The other doors opened. So I climbed in an unlocked from the inside. Started the car and noticed the mirrors would not unfold and I couldn't lower the windows on the other side of the car from the drivers door. Get to where I was going and the car wouldn't lock. Random presses on the fob and all locked. Upon return the same issue - the drivers side would not unlock and the mirros remained folded. I couldn't unlock from the inside this time and climbed across. Even if I held the unlock down on the keyfob only the passenger side windows would lower. Arriving at my next destination I tried to get out by pulling the handle locking and unlocking..... and it unlocked. Then when I locked it - it was all normal...... Bizarre....... is there a mysterious wizard way of the keyfob that could restrict one side of the vehicle?

Would the door actuator affect the electrics - the passenger windows and the door fold? For both front and rear door at the same time? It is working again at the moment - this is the bizarre thing. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that I loaded a wardrobe Monday night which was heavy and just squeezed in the rear reasting on the vertical corner boot trim plastic parts.

Unquestionably the actuator motor, get it sorted asap or you will have a mega problem when it will not open at all
One good thing over the D3, the D4 does tell you it’s not locked when the actuator has failed, don’t believe me?- the wonderful Iid tool Bow down will actually tell you it has a fault and which door Shocked

Does the actuator just die or can it be erractic before it dies - and on only one side?

Yes they can be erratic when failing however I've never had trouble with windows and mirrors at the same time so may warrant further investigation.

You won’t have you’ve got a D3 Thumbs Up with a D4 the mirrors fold only after all doors and windows are locked, the advantage of this it tells the driver something including the bonnet has not locked for some reason, the reason in this case because a tiny electric motor has failed in the actuator and yes they are intermittent before they fail completely, the major problem is they can fail locked just as easy as failing open, as I have stated above if/when they fail locked you have got a major problem as the actuator cannot be accessed with a locked door even after removing the seat, the door card cannot be removed without trashing it Shocked Big Cry
Next time you lock it my work, wowee you will say until you come to unlock it and it doesn’t, the wowee becomes Censored Twisted Evil Big Cry
Get it sorted ASAP is my advice, plenty on Eblag for £49 with 5 year warranty. They are very fiddly and time consuming to change, but LR only charge one hours labour, I would like to watch them change one in an hour Thumbs Up
It will effect the windows as it has triggered a fault in the system, you may find the windows will not go fully up or down with one press and need resetting after the new actuator has been fitted, another job for the Iid tool.

I had similar with Offside handle in my RHD.

Intermittently not unlocking/locking and no fault codes.

Turned out to be something not connected in the door. Sorry don't know any further dealer sorted for me.

Worth a check though easy to whip door card off and undo connections reconnect and give it a try.

No it wasn't an IID tool.

So all OK yesterday.

This morning same thing. I opened the driver side doors from the inside. When I was driving I was using the lever to lock and unlock the doors - sometimes it operated only mine and others the full car. After a few waggles the mirrors decided to work too...

It is booked in at LR in 14 days....

My advice is with a D4 while the lock is unreliable when locking wind the window down before getting out, close the door and put your hand through the window and lock the car with the mechanical switch in the door then press and hold the lock button for a few seconds to lock the rest of the car and close the window.
At least this way you will know it is locked, it is not locked if the mirrors don’t fold.
