D4 3.0 oil change help.

Hi, there doesn't appear to be any 'how to' on the 3.0 engine. Is it basically the same as the 2.7?

Just thought I'd do a 6 monthly before heading off on our next trip with the camper.

Well it has no dipstick but has a bespoke vacuum tube to suck on located on the side of the engine near the oil cap.

Thanks robbie Thumbs Up I'll put down my cuppa and go and have a look. Is the oil filter in the same place behind the engine?

Yes the filter is in the same place but its a bit smaller, also the tube is very small so you need to get the oil nice and warm so it comes out quite quickly.

thanks. just found the filter and have a socket that fits perfectly. I have a vacuum oil pump from my Volvo XC60 days, so I'm good to go.

One last question. is it just a matter of replacing the filter cartridge and putting it back on or is there anything to look out for?

hi sorry to ask but why use a vacuum oil pump why not just undo the sump plug and drain it like that

Hi Mark, just doing a 'how to' guide as I've just completed the oil change. Stay tuned.
To answer your question. Using a 6 litre vacuum extractor (they can be had for $50-60) and the bespoke tube saves crawling under the vehicle undoing the sump protector and dropping the oil. Less time and hassle
Thumbs Up

To make things really difficult to maintain and force you to go to the dealer?
